Everything you need to know about how Filum works, what you get, and how we keep your data safe.

About Filum

Anyone looking for evidence-based guidance on how to prevent and monitor disease can use Filum. Whether you're trying to stay ahead of family health risks or simply want a structured plan for routine screenings and checkups, Filum is designed for you.

That said, Filum is not currently trained to provide recommendations for persons under 18, persons who are or may be pregnant, persons who have palliative goals of care, or persons who have rare genetic conditions. If any of these apply to you, we recommend working directly with a specialist who can address your specific needs.

Filum provides you with a personalized prevention roadmap — a structured, timeline-based plan of screenings, lab tests, biomarker checks, and checkups tailored to your unique health profile. Every recommendation is anchored to leading clinical guidelines rather than generic wellness advice.

Depending on your plan, you also get personalized supplement and biomarker insights with evidence ratings, automated reminders when items on your plan are due, automatic updates as your health records change, and the ability to share your care plan with a medical provider of your choice. Core members will soon also receive personalized diet and exercise prevention plans.

Rather than recommending depersonalized tests, non-evidence-based supplements, or needless interventions, Filum distills the most current clinical evidence so you get a tailored prevention strategy designed specifically for your health profile. Everything in your plan has a reason behind it — tied to specific guidelines, your personal risk factors, and your health history — not a one-size-fits-all checklist.

You don't need Filum to prevent disease — but Filum makes the process far easier, faster, and more thorough. Building a comprehensive prevention plan on your own means sifting through dozens of clinical guidelines, cross-referencing your personal risk factors, and keeping everything up to date as new evidence emerges and your health changes.

Filum does all of that for you, backed by leading clinical evidence and informed by thousands of patient cases. Our ability to sync with your health records and ingest existing health documents gives Filum the fullest possible picture of your health to base your plan on — so nothing important gets missed.

How It Works

Filum is an ongoing service, not a one-time report. Your care plan is periodically updated based on evolving information in your health profile, including new lab results, changes to your demographics, and updates to the clinical guidelines that underpin your recommendations. As the evidence evolves and your health picture changes, your roadmap adapts with it.

Our system understands your medical history from the health records you share — including lab reports, clinic notes, and radiology reports — along with survey questions you answer and any documents you upload. It then synthesizes this information with insights from the latest expert medical knowledge, clinical literature, and thousands of anonymized patient journeys to generate a personalized report. Meticulous clinical checks ensure that every recommendation is clinically accurate and relevant to you.

You don't have to upload anything to get started. Filum can generate an initial overview based on the information you share directly with us through our survey. All Filum users can also securely synchronize their health records from over 50,000 health systems.

However, the more detail you provide, the more precise and personalized your report will be. Every additional piece of context — a recent lab panel, a clinic note, an imaging report — helps our system tailor insights specifically to your case.

All of Filum's recommendations must be reviewed and prescribed by a medical provider before they can be delivered. Your roadmap is a guide — not a prescription. Filum Core users can request for a local preventive health physician to review and follow up on their care plan, making the process of acting on your recommendations as seamless as possible.

Sharing & Providers

No. Filum's reports are intended to be preventive health guidance, not actionable medical advice. They are designed to provide clarity and support more informed conversations with your physician. Your report is not a diagnosis, a standalone treatment plan, or a substitute for consultation with qualified healthcare providers. Always work with your doctor to make decisions about your care.

We're adding an eFax feature for Filum Core members, which will allow you to securely share your care plan with any practitioner of your choice. Core members can also choose to be referred to a partnered preventive health physician in certain regions to follow up on and monitor their plan.

Currently, all members can download their plan as a PDF and share it with their provider directly.

No. Filum provides a personalized roadmap and can deliver it for review and execution by a medical provider, but any costs associated with the plan itself — lab tests, appointments, imaging, and so on — are not covered by Filum. That said, Filum's recommended interventions fall within the parameters of most leading insurance plans, so the majority of what's recommended should be eligible for coverage through your existing provider.

Privacy & Data

Your information is fully encrypted and stored in HIPAA-compliant environments. We take data security seriously — your health records are never sold or shared with third parties. You can delete or revise your health information at any time, and you retain full control over what data Filum has access to.

Plans & Access

Stay tuned! Filum Core users will soon be able to create family plans for up to six family members under a single membership. This means you'll be able to build and manage preventive care roadmaps for your parents, partner, or other loved ones — all from one account.

Yes, Filum is available globally. However, the evidence behind our recommendations is often based on leading clinical guidelines originating in the United States. Additionally, patients outside the United States are not currently able to synchronize their existing health records through our platform. You can still create a comprehensive health profile through our survey and document uploads.
